Hikes

🔴 Grünkopf (5:00h, 780hm)

This tour takes us to the Grünkopf, I haven’t been often in that area, so it’s also new for me.

Watching the Webcam we should not have too much snow on the tour, but it could of course be quite wet.

There’ll be some place to have a drink and maybe eat at the Ederkanzel.

There’s some changes on Trains, so we start and end in München Pasing this time.

🔴 Wildalpjoch (5:45h, 980hm)

This tour takes us to the Wildalpjoch, a quieter summit neighboring the Wendelstein in the Bayerische Voralpen.

The hike starts directly at Bayrischzell station, so no bus transfer is needed. The route goes through forest, passes the Lacheralm, and follows a ridge to the summit at 1720m. The descent passes the impressive Kesselwand cliffs and includes the Siglhütte alpine hut.

There’s no hut on this tour, so have something to drink and eat with you. It’s recommended to have Spikes and Gaiters with you.

🔴 Aiplspitz (5:20h, 1161hm)

Another weekend with promising weather (at least it stays dry so far).

The ascent to Aiplspitz (there’s more in the german Wikipedia article) is a fun one, there’s some height meters to cross, and at the end it get’s a bit more fun. That’s why I think it’s not a beginner tour, but it’s also not a hard one.
From here, heading to Jägerkamp is a classic, but I’ve yet not been at the “Wilde Fräulein”, so we’ll see how this turns out.
Of course there’s a hut, where we can have something to drink, maybe something to eat.
We don’t need to descent back to the beginning, only to the Spitzbergsattel.

🔴 Benediktenwand (9:45h, 1606hm)

Friday is public holiday, so let’s do an epic hike. It’s mostly epic because of length.
We start in Benediktbeuren to get to Benediktenwand. For here, we stay quite a while along the ridge to 2nd highest peak of hike, Latschenkopf. From here we still stay high, head to Brauneck, from where we descend to Lenggries.

As trains seem to not have the same service as on a normal day, we’ll end up at Ostbahnhof, or you might find another way how to get where you need to go.

🔴 Brecherspitze (5:00h, 919hm)

The Tour is again close to the Schliersee. If you want, you can take swimming clothes with you and have a longer stay after the tour.
We start in Neuhaus Train station. The standard tour goes along some paths which can be driven by car, but we already leave the road earlier. We go right, it directly goes up very steep to the first viewing point, the Anklspitz. From there it’s not far to the Dürnbachwand. We now go along the ridge, which is not the standard path for anybody. There’s at least one short climbing to be done without any belay.
Once we reached the Brecherspitz Vorgipfel, there’s another climbing along the ridge until we reach the Brecherspitz itself, our main goal.
On the way down, we pass the Ankl-Alm, which hopefully serves us something to drink, before we go down along the street we skipped at the beginning.

🟢 Breitenstein (3:50h, 778hm)

A short and easy hike close to Munich. Perfect for a half-day excursion or if you want to be back early.

We start from Munich and take the train and change in Fischbachau to a bus. Last year, there even was a direct bus. The hike itself is relatively short with minimal elevation gain, making it suitable for beginners or those wanting a relaxed day in nature. There can still be some snow and wet grounds as well.
